SCOA Men's Cooking Class

Want to try your luck at cooking, honing cooking skills or learning about wise food choices?

Then Saskatoon Council on Aging and Saskatoon Home Economists invite you to join a small group of men gathered to prepare meals that are simple, easy and quick to make. Many cooking experiences are based on information from Living Simply a handbook prepared by Saskatoon Home Economists for adults assuming new responsibilities.Contact SCOA for specific dates and times for classes.

Classes offered include:

First Step- Basic Cooking

  • Simple meals

  • How to make the most of your microwave

  • Add your touch to the food by varying ingredients

  • Learn some basic nutrition and healthy eating information

  • Includes a copy of “Living Simply”

Second Step– More venturesome Cooking

  • Use Sauces in meal preparation

  • Become Stir-fry Savvy

  • See what small appliances can do in meal preparation ( meat in slow cooker)

  • Sharpen pie making skills

  • Learn more healthy eating information

Step 3 - Soups and Sandwiches

  • make soups from scratch  and "put together" various sandwiches

  • learn to save time by having "left overs" for tomorrow's meal -learn how to freeze soups

  • become creative soup and sandwich makers by experimenting with varying the ingredients
