Find out in the Canine Good Neighbour evaluation organized by the Saskatoon Council on Aging, Sage Seniors’ Resources and the Canadian Kennel Club. The CKC Canine Good Neighbour program identifies and rewards responsible and caring owners and their canine partners.
The purpose of the Canine Good Neighbour Program test is to ensure that one of our most favoured companions, the dog, is accepted as a valued member of the community.
Canine Good Neighbours can be counted on to present good manners at home, in public places and in the presence of other dogs.

About the test: The test will be held at Sage Seniors’ Resources at Market Mall on June 5th starting at 10:30 in the morning. Due to Covid precautions, we will be entering the store from the south doors. We will have an area roped off outside for some of the exercises, and we will be able to use the store for exercises that require distractions (such as a person in a wheelchair, using a cane, meeting another person with a dog, etc).
The evaluation is $40.00. The dogs that qualify will receive a certificate from the Canadian Kennel club, stating that they have qualified to become a Canine Good Neighbour. Dogs that do not qualify, are deemed “not ready” and can be certified at a later date. Qualifying CKC Registered dogs will receive an official CGN title.
Our Evaluator is Allison Bokitch of Kenro Retrievers and Obedience Training. You can learn all about Allison and her work with Canine Therapy/Service work- at www.kenrodogtraining.com.
All of the exercises that a team needs to perform, can be found on the CKC website: www.ckc.ca. There is a participant handbook. The day of the test, owners need to provide proof of vaccinations and required licensing. The owner must also provide the dog’s brush- to accept grooming from a stranger. Due to Covid, all protocols will be followed- such as sign in sheets, masks and social distancing.
