The Saskatoon Caregiver Information and Support Centre: Supporting Those Who Care
The Saskatoon Caregiver Information and Support Centre has been an essential program offered by the Saskatoon Council on Aging (SCOA) since 2000. The Centre is committed to providing valuable information and unwavering support to caregivers in our community.
Our mandate is simple: To respond to caregiver needs by providing easy access to information, social and emotional support, coordination of resources, and developing a community caregiver network.

Understanding Caregiving
Informal caregivers provide unpaid care and support to family members, friends, or neighbours who may be frail, ill, or disabled. Each caregiver and care receiver has unique needs and circumstances, making it difficult to provide a one-size-fits-all description.
Most informal caregivers share the experience of taking on a caregiver role without prior preparation or formal training. Informal caregivers often need more guidance on fulfilling their caregiving responsibilities efficiently and face ongoing challenges in seeking sources of assistance or support.
