This job involves:
Establishing a housing advocacy and support program to prevent homelessness among
vulnerable adults aged 55+ in Saskatoon, particularly those at risk of losing their housing or
being discharged from the hospital into homelessness.Evidence-based research on homelessness prevention for older adults, sharing findings to
enhance community awareness and advocacy for increased affordable and suitable housing for seniors in Saskatoon.Skills
Proven knowledge, skills and experience in providing support and advocacy to marginalized and vulnerable older adults.
Understanding of First Nation and Métis cultures and the needs of the Métis and First Nation Peoples within Saskatchewan will be required.
Working knowledge of the dynamics and impacts of homelessness and are competent in working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Skills in conducting safety assessments and safety planning.
Works cooperatively and collaboratively with other community professionals, and the broader community. Experienced in organization, self-care, and general work management skills as well as an ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
Strong preference will be given to a person of Indigenous ancestry.
