Connecting Seniors with Indigenous Culture Through Visits to Sacred Places: Wanuskewin Heritage Park

Join us for a trip to Wanuskewin Heritage Park, one of Canada's proposed UNESCO World Heritage Sites and a National Historic Site of Canada. Wanuskewin, the nēhiyawēwin (Plains Cree) word roughly translated as 'seeking peace of mind' has been a sacred site and gathering place for more than 6,400 years.

Meet at Lawson Heights Mall [between Browns Social House and Sobeys Liquor Store] at 12:15 am to board chartered bus (Charlie’s Charters) , Arrival at Wanuskewin at 12:45 pm

1:00 p.m. arrival and free time

Lunch (bring your own if are eating on site)

2:00 p.m. – daily dance (Amphitheatre outside – fair weather; inside poor weather)

3:00 p.m. – Group 1 – Tipi Teachings; Group 2 – Bison walk (tech alternate)

3:45 p.m. – Group 1 – Bison walk; Group 2 – Tipi Teachings

4:30 p.m. – done for the day
